When should I book our newborn photoshoot?
Book your newborn photoshoot once you know thier due date after your 20 week scan. If you have any questions just drop me an email or call to find out more. I recommend you book your newborn photoshoot before your baby is 2 weeks old to get those cute sleepy baby pics. If at all possible avoid days 10-12 as for some babies this can be a period when they are feeding more and they can be a little more unsettled.

How to prepare for a Newborn photoshoot?
Newborn photography works best in the morning, afternoons are more unpredictable in terms of sleeping patterns. If you can hold off feeding your baby until they get to the shoot great but this might not always be possible depending on what kind of night you have had! Newborn babies skin can often be dry and flaky so make sure you moisturise their skin before the shoot or bring some cream with you. Bring any props with you that are personal to your family like a blanket knitted from your sister. Please do not worry if your baby has a wee, poo, vomits or crys it's all part of the process, we stop and start around feeding,changing and cuddles.
My style of newborn photography reflects who I am as a person, I like to capture natural poses, close ups showing the little details and relaxed pictures of your baby sleeping or awake. I enjoy using natural light if possible but if not I can bring lights with me. I want everyone to feel as relaxed and comfortable as possible, so you can all enjoy the experience together.

Newborn photography at home or at the studio?
Photography at home
I will come to your home and take pictures of you and your baby doing your own thing. The style of your baby photoshoot will be natural photography of your baby relaxing on your lap, on your bed, on your shoulder, and having a cuddle. Your babies photo shoot will stop and start around their needs, so if your little one is hungry or you want to give them a squish we will stop and take a breather. A photo shoot in your home is ideal if you are feeling tired and would prefer to stay in the comfort of your own home. It also works well if you want to include siblings, the dog or have some pictures taken in your garden.
Photography at the studio
These are slightly more posed images, I tend not to pose the baby too much on their own to do individual shots (although I do take some) in the studio but like to get the interaction between the parents and babies in different positions standing and cuddling your new baby, each of you holding your newborn. I like to include close ups of your newborns face, feet and hands and shots taken of you cuddling in close as a family. Siblings are welcome too, but the shoot will revolve mainly around the new baby with some shots with their brother & sisters.
What happens after the photoshoot?
After the shoot I will send you over a link to your email to an online gallery where you can view the images taken during the session. I will edit some of the images so you can see what they look like once they are finished, I will also make some images black & white. You then simply email me the file numbers of the images you want edited and printed. If you would like your digital images on a USB please add £25 if not they will be sent to you via a link for you to download to your own PC.
